Setting the scene for Native Land’s exclusive W1 development
Crafting to the designs of distinguished London-based interior design studio Chapman Eugène has been a privilege for the Barr Joinery team.

A combination of unique, handcrafted pieces and an exciting mixed materials specification resulted in a truly exceptional bespoke cabinetry collection, which would be staged amongst carefully curated furniture pieces, all designed by Chapman Eugène to the backdrop of Hopkins Architects’ elegant structural form.
100 George Street, in the heart of Marylebone W1, is the luxury property offering from globally renowned developer Native Land, in partnership with Derwent London and The Portman Estate. Dubbed ‘a timeless canvas for contemporary life’, the reality certainly lives up to its lofty billing.
Located on quiet, tree-lined George Street, the development neighbours renowned hotspots such as Nobu Hotel Portman Square and the Chiltern Firehouse, with Marylebone High Street a few minutes’ walk away. Each apartment has been designed to reflect the traditional Georgian architectural history whilst encompassing the cosmopolitan living of modern Marylebone.

Once inside the apartment, the feeling of calm-luxe seamlessly extends. A contemporary angled console, designed for both style and streamlined functionality, floats above the timber floor. Its material composition is a clue to the apartment’s cohesive cabinetry style: topped with natural Emperador marble, known for its distinctive brown colour with white or light veins and irregular crystalline formations, and a liquid metal cabinetry finish... and that’s just the start.
On entering the living area, further innovative solutions ensure that the feel of the space remains stylishly discerning. Slim oak shelves, with hidden support, float above a bespoke leather-clad sideboard. A handmade oak frame, with notched edge top, exposed base and tapered legs contrasts with its textured brown leather-clad mid-section and Beardmore ‘Half Moon’ brass pull handles.

“Chapman Eugène’s dressing of the new show apartment is a testament to calm and considered design that celebrates local London designers. The choice of shaded tones, gentle colour and layering of natural materials and textures allows for exquisite custom-designed handmade furniture and a personal collection of art and ceramics, to add a distinct personality to this home.”

The centrepiece is a lightly antiqued panelled mirror with the same distinguished liquid metal frame seen elsewhere. Hidden within the joinery is a concealed pocket door system, which, on opening, reveals an entirely liquid metal-clad AV cabinet.
Across in the dining area, a statement geometric Rosso marble dining table informs the space. Handcrafted to a strikingly unique Chapman Eugène design, the precision-made base structure was entirely clad in mitred rosso marble, a great example of innovative design and expert mixed materials manufacture. Beneath the island, an exactingly divided shelving and wine storage unit brings hidden order and functionality to the space.

“Statement furniture pieces include a [Barr Joinery] custom-made dining table made using locally sourced marble.”

Further into the apartment, other design-led Barr Joinery items sit amongst the carefully curated artwork and furniture pieces. A bespoke headboard features a seamless cluster oak panel by Mundy Veneer. The timber, chosen for its density of pips and burls, is accentuated with a clear light-sheen finish and set within a solid oak frame. A pair of showcase circular bedside tables, built with multiple fine-ply layers and wrapped in distinctive shagreen stingray leather, are topped with Emperador marble.
“A brand new building, with the same sense of grandeur as its neighbouring Victorian mansion blocks. The eclectic interiors are a reflection of the history and soul of old Marylebone.”

Holistic well-being is at the core of the 100 George Street experience. In addition to a discreet 24-hour concierge and security, residents have access to a carefully considered suite of social spaces, also designed by Chapman Eugène, including a state-of-the-art fitness studio, treatment room and sauna, library, residents’ lounge and meeting room.
