Clyde House
Chiswick, London
PROJECT TYPE: Whole-House Cabinetry
INTERIOR DESIGNER: Stella Mannering
OVERVIEW: Clyde House was built in the 1820s and is uniquely characterised by a striking central two-storey half-circle bay. Over the past two centuries, each further chapter of the property’s architectural journey has embraced these distinctive curves… also the starting point for this whole house cabinetry project.

LIBRARY
Traditional in-frame cabinetry, with cock-bead detailing. Hand-painted in Paint & Paper Library’s Blue Gum, the library wraps three sides of the room.

DRAWING ROOM
A bespoke dresser-style audio-visual unit is made from lime-washed oak. This piece exhibits a distinctive pencil groove detail to the frames, giving a modern twist to the traditional beaded in-frame cabinetry.

DINING ROOM
Painted in Little Greene’s Slaked Lime, the dining room cabinetry exhibits an in-frame cock bead detail, complimented by an Ovolo quarter-round detail to the panelling. The cabinet fronts are finished in an interwoven Armac Martin antiqued brass grill, with brass cabinet handles and drawer pulls.

KITCHEN
Characterised by the curved lines seen throughout the property, the cabinetry follows the contours of the external walls. A larder cupboard, with an integrated cold slab, is scooped out for expansive dry goods storage. Double doors are set forward and open inwards for unimpeded walk-in access. The sink run is a full half-circle of cabinetry, each section hand-formed from layers of fine maple veneer. In-frame island cabinetry also exhibits a curved corner detail, set beneath a Carrara quartz worktop.

STUDY
Triple Shaker-style cabinets, with made-to-measure boxed shelving above, hand-painted in Farrow & Ball’s Stiffkey Blue.
